# Schiphol to Amsterdam Centraal: train, taxi or Uber?

> The €5.90 train takes 15 minutes and runs 24/7. There's genuinely no reason to take anything else — unless one specific thing is true.

Schiphol has one of the best airport-to-city train links in the world. Take it.

## NS train

Direct trains from Schiphol Plaza (the station is *inside* the airport, below arrivals) to **Amsterdam Centraal in 15–17 minutes**. €5.90 second class, €10 first. Trains every 10 minutes during the day, hourly overnight.

Buy from the yellow NS machines (English available, card only in some), or tap contactless directly at the gate with your bank card or phone. Just tap in, tap out at Centraal — no ticket needed.

## Taxi (Schiphol Travel Taxi)

Only use the **official rank** outside arrivals. Schiphol Travel Taxi has fixed fares:

- Amsterdam Centre: **€45–55**

- Amsterdam South (Zuid, RAI): **€35–45**

Regular metered taxis also queue — expect €50–65 in traffic.

## Uber / Bolt

Both work. Uber pickup at Schiphol is at the P1 short-stay parking, floor -1. Bolt often 15% cheaper than Uber. Amsterdam Centre: **€35–55**.

## When to skip the train

- Group of 3+ going to a specific hotel with luggage

- You're staying in Zuid, Buitenveldert, or the outer neighbourhoods (Uber wins)

- Middle of the night with heavy luggage and no energy

## Scams

Effectively none at AMS. Unlicensed "snorders" occasionally approach in arrivals — refuse. See our full [Schiphol exit guide](/airports/ams-amsterdam).
