# Athens airport to Syntagma: metro, X95 bus, or taxi?

Athens airport (ATH) is 30 km from the city. The good news: every option is regulated and priced, and none of them are scammy if you use the official rank.

## Metro Line 3 (blue)

**€9 one-way**, direct to Syntagma in 40 minutes. Trains every 30 min from 06:30 to 23:30. Return ticket €16 (valid 48h). Two people travelling together: €16 total (special fare). Buy from the machine before descending to the platform.

## X95 express bus

**€5.50**, 24/7, journey 60–75 min to Syntagma depending on traffic. The go-to for late arrivals when the metro has stopped. Buy tickets from the small kiosk at the bus stand — not from the driver.

## Official taxi (flat fare)

From the marked rank outside arrivals.

- **€40 flat fare** to central Athens (Syntagma/Plaka), 05:00–24:00

- **€55 flat fare** at night (24:00–05:00)

These are regulated. The driver should confirm the flat fare before starting.

## Uber / Bolt / FreeNow

All three work but dispatch **licensed yellow taxis** at the same flat fare — Uber Black is more expensive. Bolt often has the same flat rate as street cabs.

## Scams to watch

Rare at ATH but not unheard of: drivers claiming the meter or flat fare "doesn't apply today" or offering to skip it for cash. Insist on the flat fare or take the next car.
