# Balkan airport transport: Zagreb, Ljubljana, Sarajevo, Skopje, Tivat and Pristina

> Six small Balkan airports, six slightly different taxi cultures. The good news: none of them are expensive, and all of them are walkable-to-a-bus.

The Balkans reward travellers who know the local shuttle bus exists. Every one of these airports has one. Every one is cheaper than the taxi rank by an order of magnitude.

## Zagreb (ZAG)

[Franjo Tuđman Airport](/airports/zag-zagreb) is 17 km from central Zagreb. The Pleso shuttle bus runs to the main bus station every 30 min for €8. Taxis are metered and about €25–35. Uber and Bolt both operate.

## Ljubljana (LJU)

[Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport](/airports/lju-ljubljana) is 26 km from town. Public bus 28 goes to the main bus station for €4.10 — but only every 1–2 hours. Shared shuttle vans (GoOpti) are €9–13 door-to-door. Taxis are €35–45.

## Sarajevo (SJJ)

[Sarajevo Airport](/airports/sjj-sarajevo) is 6 km from the centre. There's no airport bus, but city bus 36 runs from a stop 400m from the terminal for KM 1.80 (about €0.90). Taxis have a €15 fixed fare — insist on it, or the meter can suddenly triple.

## Skopje (SKP)

[Skopje International](/airports/skp-skopje) is 25 km out. The Vardar Express shuttle runs to town for MKD 199 (about €3). Taxis are €25 flat — always agreed in advance, no meter.

## Tivat (TIV)

[Tivat](/airports/tiv-tivat) is Montenegro's coastal airport for Kotor, Budva and Porto Montenegro. It's tiny — no bus. Taxis are €10 to Tivat centre, €20 to Kotor, €40 to Budva. Fixed fares posted at the rank.

## Pristina (PRN)

[Pristina](/airports/prn-pristina) has no reliable public transport link. Taxis are €25 fixed to the centre. There is a private shuttle van run by Kosovo Tours for €5. See [currency at Pristina](/currency-at/prn-pristina) — the euro is used unofficially.

## What to skip

Anyone approaching you inside arrivals with a "special rate." Every Balkan airport has an official queue outside.
