# How much is a taxi from CDG to Paris? The €56 / €65 flat fare rule

Paris made this one easy — *if* you know the rule. Here's how the CDG flat fare actually works.

## The regulated flat fares

Since 2016, licensed Paris taxis charge fixed prices from CDG:

- **€56 to the Right Bank** (north of the Seine)

- **€65 to the Left Bank** (south of the Seine)

These are flat. No meter. No luggage supplement. No airport surcharge. They apply 24/7, in traffic, on holidays.

## How to get one

Go to the **official taxi rank**, marked "Taxis Parisiens", outside Terminals 1, 2 (each 2A–2F sub-terminal has one), and 3. A regulator in a yellow vest usually manages the queue. Tell them Rive Droite or Rive Gauche and they'll confirm the flat fare in advance.

## Where it goes wrong

- **Touts inside arrivals** — anyone offering you a taxi before you exit is not a licensed Paris taxi. They'll quote €90–150. Ignore.

- **"VTC" cars in the queue** — private hire (Uber-equivalent). Not covered by the flat fare. They'll try to charge €80+.

- **Destinations outside Paris** — La Défense, Versailles, Disneyland are NOT covered. Get a meter estimate first.

## Uber and Bolt for comparison

UberX / Bolt CDG-to-Paris: **€50–95** depending on surge. Cheaper off-peak, more expensive Sunday evenings and rainy days. Pickup point is the P3 lot for T2, not the arrivals curb.

## When the train wins

**RER B** to Gare du Nord: €11.80, 30 minutes. If you have light luggage and your hotel is central, this destroys every other option on price. Avoid after 22:00 (safety) or during a strike (frequent).
