# Central Asia airport transport: Astana, Bishkek, Samarkand, Ulaanbaatar and Dushanbe

Central Asia's airports are catching up fast — Yandex Go (the Russian Uber) works at almost all of them, and it's transformed the experience. But cash still rules, taxis outside are still a haggle, and knowing the fair fare is half the battle.

## Astana / Nur-Sultan (NQZ)

[Nursultan Nazarbayev International](/airports/nqz-astana) is 17 km from the centre. Yandex Go is KZT 3,000–4,500 (about $6–10). Airport taxis outside quote KZT 8,000–10,000 — cut in half by walking to the departures level and calling from there.

## Bishkek (FRU)

[Manas International](/airports/fru-bishkek) is 25 km out. Yandex Go and Namba Taxi both work for around KGS 400–600 ($5–7). Airport touts quote KGS 1,500+. Bus 380 runs to the city bazaar for KGS 60 but is packed and slow.

## Samarkand (SKD)

[Samarkand International](/airports/skd-samarkand) is 6 km from the Registan. Yandex works patchily. Taxi at the rank is UZS 60,000 (about $5) but always negotiated. Foreigners are quoted double — say "shest' tysyach" (60,000 in Russian) and stand firm.

## Ulaanbaatar (ULN)

[Chinggis Khaan International](/airports/uln-ulaanbaatar) is 52 km from the city — the longest airport run in Central Asia. UB Cab (local app) is MNT 60,000 (about $17). Airport taxis quote MNT 100,000+. The shuttle bus is MNT 3,000 but only runs at scheduled airline flight times.

## Dushanbe (DYU)

[Dushanbe International](/airports/dyu-dushanbe) is 5 km from the centre. No ride-hail. Taxis at the rank are TJS 50–80 ($5–8) — negotiate before getting in. Bus 8 runs to town for TJS 3.

## The Central Asia arrival playbook

- Withdraw local cash at the ATM before leaving arrivals. Card acceptance in taxis is near zero.

- Have the destination address in Cyrillic or the local script on your phone.

- Yandex Go is your best friend where it works.
