# Dubai airport to Marina, Downtown or JBR: taxi, metro or Careem?

> DXB to your hotel is cheap by Dubai standards — if you avoid the limo touts. Here's what each option really costs in AED.

Dubai's airport-to-city options are cheap, well-signed, and rarely scammy. The one thing you must do: walk past the "limousine" desk in arrivals.

## Metro (Red Line)

Runs from T1 and T3. **AED 8 with a Nol card** (buy at the machine before the gates) to Downtown/Burj Khalifa. 30 min to Downtown, 45 min to Marina. Runs 05:00 to midnight (Fri from 10:00). Great option if your luggage is manageable and you're going to a metro-adjacent hotel.

## Airport taxi (cream Dubai Taxi)

From the official rank outside arrivals. **AED 25 minimum** (already includes AED 25 airport surcharge). Metered.

- DXB to Downtown: **AED 55–75**

- DXB to Marina / JBR: **AED 80–110**

- DXB to Palm Jumeirah: **AED 90–130**

## Careem / Uber

Both work at DXB. Pickup is at the designated rideshare zone (follow signs — it's not the taxi rank). Prices **15–25% higher than metered taxi** off-peak, similar during rain. Careem is more widely used locally and has more drivers.

## The scam: "limousine" desks

Before you reach the taxi rank, you'll pass counters offering "airport limousine". These are private cars charging **AED 150–300** for the same trip. Perfectly legal, wildly overpriced. Walk past. The official taxi rank is signposted and outside.

## Late-night arrivals

Taxis run 24/7. The metro stops at midnight (later on weekends). For a 3am arrival, taxi is the only realistic option.
