## The MetroX 320 is the local secret

Halifax Stanfield (YHZ) is **35 km** north of downtown — one of the more remote major-city airports in Canada. The **MetroX Route 320** bus runs from arrivals to downtown Halifax (Scotia Square) for **CAD 4.25**, roughly every 30 minutes, ~60 minutes end-to-end.

- Pickup: right outside the arrivals door
- Payment: exact change or Halifax Transit card
- Runs: ~5am to midnight

For a solo traveler with a backpack, this is the obvious choice.

## Taxi and Uber

Flat-rate taxi to downtown Halifax from YHZ: **CAD 68** for up to 4 people. Add tip.

**Uber and Lyft** both operate at YHZ. Downtown fares run **CAD 55–80** depending on surge. Pickup from the designated rideshare zone outside arrivals.

## When the taxi/rideshare wins

- Groups of 3–4 (per-person cost is close to the bus)
- Late arrival (bus stops around midnight)
- Heavy luggage
- Bad Halifax weather (winter storms — the bus runs but slowly)

## What to avoid

- The **airport shuttle vans** advertising 'CAD 20 to downtown' — quote is per person, not per group, and often $25+ once you're in
- Rental car at the airport if you're staying downtown — parking is expensive and the peninsula is walkable
- Cruise port dropoff: taxi/Uber only (~CAD 70, no direct bus)

## Reverse trip warning

MetroX from downtown to YHZ: same $4.25, but leave 90+ min before check-in. The route makes 10+ stops.
