## The train wins, every time

Kraków–Balice (KRK) has a direct train station connected to Terminal 1 by a short covered walkway. The train runs to **Kraków Główny** (main station, 10 min walk to the Old Town) in **18 minutes for 17 PLN (~$4)**.

- Frequency: every 30 min from ~4am to midnight
- Buy tickets: machine at the platform (card or cash), or on board (+small fee)
- No luggage restrictions

Unless you're arriving at 3am or heading to a suburb, the train is unbeatable.

## Bolt and Uber

Both work at KRK. Pickup is from a **designated ride-hailing zone** in the airport parking area — signposted, ~5 min walk. Fare to the Old Town: **50–80 PLN off-peak, up to 120 PLN with surge**.

Bolt is usually cheaper than Uber in Poland. Free Now also works.

## Official taxi

The taxi rank outside arrivals uses branded companies (iCar, Radio Taxi, Wawel). Metered — fare to Old Town: **90–120 PLN**. Slightly more than Bolt but no app friction.

## What to avoid

- Unmarked cars in the arrivals hall offering 'taxi' — they'll quote 200+ PLN and there's no recourse
- The 'premium' taxi counter inside arrivals — same as taking a Bolt XL for 3x the price
- Paying the driver in EUR — always PLN, always with change verified

## Nightlife arrivals tip

If you land late and are heading straight to Kazimierz for drinks, Bolt is the smart move — trains stop around midnight and the Old Town taxi rank at 2am is where drunk tourists get overcharged.
