## The coupon-taxi system: how it works

Langkawi International (LGK) has a **fixed-rate coupon taxi** counter inside arrivals. Pay at the counter, get a coupon, hand it to the driver at the taxi rank. No haggling, no meter surprises.

Coupon rates (2026):

- LGK → **Pantai Cenang**: **RM 24**
- LGK → **Pantai Tengah**: **RM 28**
- LGK → **Kuah town / jetty**: **RM 40**
- LGK → **Datai / north coast**: **RM 65–80**
- LGK → **Tanjung Rhu**: **RM 60**

Surcharges: 50% between midnight and 6am, RM 3 per extra bag beyond 2.

## Grab at LGK

**Grab works** at Langkawi but supply is thin — you may wait 10–20 min. Fares are usually 20–30% cheaper than the coupon taxi for the Cenang run but higher for remote hotels (surge / return-trip padding).

**AirAsia Ride** also operates on the island.

## Rent a car — the real move

Langkawi is a car island. Airport rental is cheap (**RM 60–100/day** for a Perodua), roads are quiet, and public transport barely exists outside Kuah and Cenang. If you're staying more than 2 nights and want to see the north beaches, Kilim mangroves, or Sky Bridge, rent.

Coupon taxi from LGK to your hotel, then rent the next morning in Cenang for ~RM 50/day (cheaper than airport counters).

## Ferry to Penang / Kuah jetty

If you're island-hopping to Penang or the mainland (Kuala Perlis), the jetty is at **Kuah** — RM 40 coupon taxi from LGK. Ferry to Penang: ~2h 45min, RM 65.
