# Leaving Boston Logan (BOS): the free Silver Line trick most tourists miss

Boston Logan (BOS) is one of the few US airports where public transit into downtown is genuinely fast, and — if you know the trick — free.

## Silver Line SL1 (the free bus)

Free inbound from any terminal to South Station in 15–25 minutes. This is a MBTA "bus rapid transit" line that uses the Ted Williams Tunnel and connects to the Red Line at South Station. Free only when boarding at the airport (charges $2.40 outbound). Every 10–15 minutes.

## Blue Line (via free shuttle)

Take the free Route 22/33 airport shuttle to Airport Station, then Blue Line to Government Center or State ($2.40). Faster than Silver Line for the North End or Beacon Hill.

## Uber / Lyft

$25–45 to downtown, plus a mandatory **$3.25 Massport airport surcharge**. Pickup is at the Central Parking Garage — signage from arrivals. During rush hour (4–7 PM) surge easily triples the fare.

## Taxi

$35–50 metered to downtown, plus $2.75 tunnel and $2.25 airport fees. Boston taxis take cards but you'll fight the reader.

## Logan Express

$7–15 coaches to Back Bay, Braintree, Woburn, Framingham. Perfect if you're heading to a suburb without renting a car.
