# Leaving Dubai Airport: taxi, Careem or metro into the city in 2026

> DXB has one of the cleanest, cheapest airport-to-city runs in the world — if you skip the touts and use the right rank. Here is the exact playbook.

Dubai International ([DXB](/airports/dubai-airport)) is the world's busiest international airport by passenger numbers, and the ride into the city is one of the most straightforward on the planet — provided you ignore the men in suits offering you a "limousine." Every legitimate option is metered, capped, or on a rail.

## The official taxi rank (the default choice)

Cream-coloured RTA taxis queue directly outside every terminal. Fares are metered, the flagfall is AED 25 from the airport (higher than street pickups because of the airport surcharge), and Downtown Dubai is typically AED 55–75. Marina is AED 80–100. Drivers accept cards and the meter is regulated — you almost never see meter tampering in Dubai.

## Careem and Uber

Both work at DXB. Careem is the local incumbent (owned by Uber) and usually has more cars. Pickup is from designated ride-hail zones at each terminal — follow signs, not people. Prices are typically 10–20% higher than the metered taxi during the day and can spike heavily in the evening. See our full [Uber at Dubai Airport](/uber-at/dubai-airport) page for the current pickup point.

## The Metro (the cheapest by a mile)

The Red Line stops at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. A single ride to Downtown is AED 8 with a Nol card. It runs roughly 5am–midnight (later on weekends). If you have hand luggage only and you're staying anywhere near a Red Line stop, this is the move.

## What to avoid

- Anyone approaching you inside arrivals offering a "limo" or "special car." Legitimate limousine service is booked at a signed desk, not on foot.

- Terminal 2 (used by flydubai and low-cost carriers) has no metro — plan for a taxi or Careem.
