## When to pick each option

**Solo with a backpack:** RER B from inside the airport (Terminal 2 has its own station; Terminal 1 connects via the free CDGVAL shuttle). €11.80 and you're at Châtelet in 40 minutes.

**Couple or family with checked bags:** the flat-fare taxi. €56 fixed to anywhere on the Right Bank, €65 to the Left Bank. Per person it's similar to RER, and you arrive at the door.

**Heading specifically to Opéra:** Roissybus is direct, runs every 15–20 minutes, and avoids the RER B's reliability issues.

**Late-night arrival:** RER B stops around midnight. Use the flat-fare taxi or Uber. The "Noctilien" night buses exist but are slow and not great with luggage.

## Scam watch — the CDG specials

The single biggest CDG scam is fake taxi drivers approaching travellers inside Terminal 2 and quoting €100+ "flat" fares. The real flat fare is €56 or €65 depending on the bank of the Seine, written into law since 2016, and only available at the marked official rank outside arrivals. **If a driver finds you, walk away.**

Second-most common: the RER B "broken ticket machine" trick — someone offers to "help" you buy a ticket and pockets the change. Use the staffed window or pay contactless at the gate.

Third: Uber drivers at CDG sometimes try to add a "luggage surcharge." The app price is the price.

## What we'd do

If we're solo with carry-on, RER B without thinking about it. If we're two people with checked bags, the flat-fare taxi from the official rank — it's predictable, regulated, and door-to-door. The only thing we'd never do is take a ride from someone who approaches us in arrivals.
