# Leaving Vienna Airport (VIE): CAT, ÖBB, or Bolt — do not overpay

> The €14.90 City Airport Train is a tourist trap when the €4.30 ÖBB Railjet gets you to the same station in the same time.

Vienna Airport (VIE) has one of Europe's worst-value "premium" airport trains — and one of its best-value regular ones. The trap: they leave from the same platform.

## ÖBB Railjet / S7 — the real answer

The regular **ÖBB train** goes Airport → Wien Mitte / Wien Hauptbahnhof for €4.30 (S7) or €5.10 (Railjet), every 30 minutes, 16-minute journey. This is what locals take.

## CAT (City Airport Train)

€14.90 one-way. Same platform. Same destination (Wien Mitte). Marginally faster (16 vs 25 min on the S-Bahn). The upsell is not worth 3× the price for 9 saved minutes.

## Bolt / Uber / Free Now

€35–55 to the centre in 25–35 minutes. Bolt is usually cheapest. Pickup is signed at the arrivals level. Vienna has none of the ride-hailing chaos of Prague or Budapest.

## Taxi

Around €40 metered to the centre. Fine, but there's no reason to pick it over Bolt.
