## Bahamas taxi fares are regulated — know them cold

Lynden Pindling International (NAS) taxis charge **government-set flat rates by zone**. The rates are posted at the taxi dispatch stand outside arrivals, but few tourists read them, so drivers sometimes 'estimate' higher.

Two-passenger flat fares (as of 2026):

- NAS to **Cable Beach / Baha Mar**: **$18**
- NAS to **downtown Nassau / cruise port**: **$32**
- NAS to **Paradise Island / Atlantis**: **$38** (+ $1 bridge toll each way)
- NAS to **Sandy Port / West Bay**: **$22**

Each additional passenger: **$3**. Each bag beyond 2: **$1**. Tip 15%.

## What to avoid

- Anyone approaching you inside baggage claim offering a ride — always unofficial, always more expensive
- 'Group van' shuttles at 2x the taxi rate per person
- Rental car if you're staying at Atlantis or a Cable Beach resort — parking fees kill any savings

## Ride-hailing status

**No Uber, no Lyft, no Grab in the Bahamas.** The taxi cartel has kept ride-share off the island. Your options are the regulated taxi or a pre-booked hotel/resort transfer.

## Resort transfers

Atlantis and Baha Mar both sell airport transfers ($40–60 per person round-trip). They're not cheaper than the taxi but include the meet-and-greet at arrivals — worth it if you're arriving late with kids.

## Getting around after arrival

The **#10 jitney bus** runs Cable Beach ↔ downtown Nassau for **$1.50** and is a Bahamas experience in itself. Doesn't serve the airport.
