## Uber is the cheapest and easiest option

Luis Muñoz Marín (SJU) allows Uber pickups at the designated **Ground Transportation** area on the arrivals level. Fares to Old San Juan or Condado run **$18–28** off-peak, $25–40 with airport surcharge and any surge.

Steps:
1. Baggage claim → exit arrivals
2. Follow signs to Ground Transportation
3. Request the ride once you're outside — Uber pins you to the correct pickup lane

## When to take the official taxi instead

Puerto Rico has a **fixed-zone airport taxi system** — no meter, no negotiation. Fares are posted at the taxi stand:

- To Isla Verde / Carolina: **$14** flat
- To Condado / Miramar: **$20**
- To Old San Juan: **$24**
- To Rio Piedras: **$21**

Bags are $1 each, tip 15%. Cash preferred but most drivers accept card now. This beats Uber if surge pricing is on, or if you're going to a specific hotel with luggage.

## What to avoid

- Anyone approaching you inside baggage claim offering a ride — SJU has a real problem with unofficial 'taxis'
- The hotel shuttle desk quoting $35+ for a $14 taxi ride
- Rental car counter upsells if you're staying in Old San Juan (parking is a nightmare)

## Getting to the cruise port

Old San Juan pier is a $24 flat taxi ride or ~$20 Uber. Add 45 min in traffic on embarkation days.
