# Southeast Asia secondary airports: leaving Vientiane, Luang Prabang, Nha Trang, Brunei and Seychelles

> Five smaller Asian and Indian Ocean airports where the tuk-tuk, the taxi coupon and the resort transfer all compete. Here is the honest breakdown.

The big Southeast Asian hubs (Bangkok, Singapore, Jakarta) get all the attention, but a huge chunk of arrivals happen at the smaller airports where the arrival dynamics are completely different — smaller, calmer, and more reliant on knowing the one weird rule that governs each place.

## Vientiane (VTE)

[Wattay International](/airports/vte-vientiane) is 4 km from central Vientiane. There's a taxi coupon desk in arrivals — LAK 60,000–80,000 (about $3–4) to the centre. Tuk-tuks outside are LAK 40,000 but you'll negotiate and probably lose. Use the coupon desk.

## Luang Prabang (LPQ)

[Luang Prabang International](/airports/lpq-luang-prabang) is 4 km from town. Taxi coupon desk: LAK 50,000–70,000 fixed. Minivan share: LAK 30,000 per person. The tourist-facing tuk-tuks quote LAK 100,000+ — use the desk instead.

## Nha Trang (CXR)

Here's the trap: [Cam Ranh International](/airports/cxr-nha-trang) is 35 km south of Nha Trang. The airport shuttle bus is VND 65,000 (about $2.70) and drops at hotels along the beach strip — the sane choice. Airport taxis are VND 350,000–500,000 fixed. Grab works and is VND 250,000–400,000.

## Brunei (BWN)

[Brunei International](/airports/bwn-bandar-seri-begawan) is 8 km from central BSB. There's no metered taxi service in Brunei — cars are booked by phone or through your hotel. Airport taxi to town is BND 25–35 fixed. Dart (Brunei's Grab-alike) works well and is BND 15–25.

## Seychelles / Mahé (SEZ)

[Seychelles International](/airports/sez-mahe) is 10 km from Victoria and near the main resort strips of Beau Vallon and Anse Royale. Taxis have fixed rates posted at the rank: SCR 400 to Victoria (about $30), SCR 550 to Beau Vallon, SCR 700 to Anse Royale. Buses (SCR 12!) run past the airport but with luggage on a Seychellois bus you'll regret it. Most resorts include the transfer — ask before you book anything.

## Common rule

All five airports have official fixed-fare desks inside arrivals. Use them. The "tuk-tuk outside is cheaper" instinct is wrong at four of the five — and at the fifth (Vientiane) the difference is a dollar.
