Methodology

What we cover

For each airport we publish the ranked ways out (train, official taxi rank, ride-hailing, shuttle, private transfer), typical fare ranges in local currency, journey time, pickup point, payment methods, and the specific overcharge or scam patterns travellers report at that terminal.

Where the data comes from

• Primary sources: official airport websites, transit operators (e.g. TfL, JR East, ADM, MTA), regulator-published taxi tariffs, and posted rank signage.
• Ride-hailing: live checks against Uber, Bolt, Grab, Gett, and regional apps for the specific airport pickup zone.
• On-the-ground reports: traveller reports from Reddit (r/travel, r/solotravel, city subs), TripAdvisor forums, and reader submissions via our "Report a change" form.
• Cross-checks: every fare and scam claim is cross-checked against at least two independent sources before publication.

Confidence ratings

Each guide carries a confidence rating that tells you how firm the numbers are:

• High — published, regulated fares confirmed within the last 6 months; multiple recent traveller reports agree.
• Medium — fares based on operator listings plus recent reports; some variance expected on surge or off-peak.
• Low — thin or conflicting sources; treat as a rough range and confirm at the rank.

Update cadence

Every guide shows a "Last updated" date. High-traffic hubs are reviewed monthly. Smaller airports are reviewed quarterly, plus immediately when a reader reports a change or a fare adjustment is announced.

Corrections

If a fare, rank location, or scam pattern is out of date, please report the change. We attribute contributors on request.
